Graduation Day, 2017

8 April, 2017: The CMR Institute of Management Studies held its Graduation Day with honour and pride at the college campus. Graduation heralds a time of the year where the Institute’s vision comes to fruition through the students who have completed their programmes and are about to start their lives in the real world. An atmosphere of hope, excitement and high aspirations filled the air and hearts of the graduands.
Over 600 students from both undergraduate and postgraduate fields were concerned on the day. They were accompanied by parents and closed ones and were heartily welcomed by Professor Suja Bennet, Principal of CMRIMS. Professor Bennet stated the importance of the graduation ceremony in the lives of the young achievers and iterated their parent’s efforts and contributions to their success.
Adithya Menon, President of the Student Council and Zoya Zharlast, an international student from Afghanistan both recapped on their years spent in the college and shared their projects and plans for the future. They also urged their fellow graduates to keep going and progressing even if the path ahead of them sometimes appears difficult.
Mr. Rupam Mazumdar, Director and Co-Founder of Spintlr Labs Pvt. Ltd., and a distinguished alumnus of CMR IMS addressed students to highlight the advantages of a privileged education and prompted them to use their knowledge for the betterment of our society. He laid emphasis on the idea that one’s passion and courage to pursue their dreams makes all the difference in the world. Academic toppers were felicitated for their diligent effort and achievements by the dignitaries.
The Chief Guest, Shri. Rupak Kumar Dutta, I.P.S., Director General & Inspector General of Police, Karnataka addressed the gathering. He motivated the students to dream big with passion, honour and confidence and assured them that success will follow in the footsteps of integrity.
Shri. K. C. Ramamurthy, I.P.S, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Former Inspector General of Police, Chairman, CMR Group of Institutions administered the Graduation Oath to the students and made the presidential remarks. He applauded the faculty for their endeavor to be an integral part their students’ development and encouraged the graduating students to be the alumni body which will raise the credibility of the institution.
The Guest of Honour Shri. Shereyar D. Vakil, Former MD of General Electric, Bangalore, addressed the students to incite them to remain profoundly human when entering the corporate world. His recipe for success, he said, is to replace competition with collaboration.
The day ended with the vote of thanks by Prof. S.G. Mukherjee, Dean of the Management and Commerce Department, who again commended the students for their achievements.
The college choir ‘Resonance’ added a touch of musical delight and the song “Raise Me Up” was an inspirational note for the newly-graduated students.
