Jagrithi 2017

9 September, 2017: CMR Institute of Management Studies organized Jagrithi 2017 with a 5K Walkathon and series of cultural events. Nearly 1000 National Cadet Corps (NCC) from across 25 city colleges came forward to create awareness about the rampant use of mind altering addictions of different kinds among the youth. The young cadets took part in the 5k Walkathon carrying banners, placards etc. to reach out to the youth and educate them on how to acquire basic coping skills like decision making, problem solving and stress management.

The walkathon was flagged off by Guest of Honour Shri. K.C. Jagannath Reddy, Secretary, CMR Jnanadhara Trust in the presence of various dignitaries including  Lt. Col. James, Commanding Officer 9KAR BN NCC, Dr. Praveen R, Registrar of CMR University and Associate NCC Officers (ANOs) of various colleges.

Jagrithi 2017 encouraged the youth to resist from addictive gaming, drag racing, drugs & alcohol, Prescription pills, excessive use of social media, pornography, Cyber Bullying and many such disturbing activities.

Shri. K.C. Jagannath Reddy, Secretary, CMR Jnanadhara Trust, said, “Knowledge is power and the aim of Jagrithi 2017 is to give this power to our young generation. ‘Today’s youth must realize the power of the word “NO”. The youth today must avoid peer pressure, joining gangs, anti-social behaviour, thus preventing oneself from ensnaring into a future without hopes and dreams.”

Various cultural activities like Theatre / Mime, Group Dance / Ballet and Street Play were conducted.

The Chief Guest for the Valedictory Programme was Dr. Raghu MD., Sr. Consultant – Psychiatry, BGS Global Hospital, Bangalore.  The Guest of Honour was Shri. K.C. Jagannath Reddy, Secretary, CMR ​J​nanadhara Trust.

Christ University won the overall trophy.
